We got home from work last night and went for a 3 mile run. My goal was to hit at least 3 miles last night, since we are running in a 5K on Saturday and I haven't ran 3 miles outside in quite some time. The first mile was pretty awful. The hills in my hood really kill my motivation to keep going, but once I got through those, I was good to go. I was finally feeling my normal running groove in the last 2 miles and Mike did really great job keeping up. He didn't stop to walk at all, so I was pretty proud of him.

We roasted the asparagus and cauliflower in a 375F oven for about 30-35 minutes with some olive oil and sea salt and pepper. Then I sauteed the purple cabbage in some olive oil and sea salt and grilled the chicken in safflower oil (it seriously tastes the best). It was really delicious.
Mike made us each a juice for this morning and I drank mine on the way to the gym. Since I am working at the hospital this evening and will not be able to get a run in, I decided to head to the gym early to get a good strength training workout in. I did back and abs for about 45 minutes.
After the gym, I had another breakfast cookie (I will save you all from a picture, since I know they look pretty awful on camera). Trust me on this.... try it. They are soooo good. They do not have a cookie consistency, more like a cold plate of thick oatmeal. Weird, but so good. Then I had a mid morning snack of mangoes and a tangerine.
For lunch, I had leftovers from last night's dinner, a dove dark chocolate heart, and 2 werther's originals to satisfy my sweet tooth.
It's chocolate Wednesday over here. :) |
Yesterday's lunch was a whole wheat wrap, chocolate chip cookie dough almond butter, banana and apple slices with a side of multigrain pita chips. I love lunches like that. They are a good twist to the traditional pb and j and are a lot more fun to eat.
Cray Cray
I am not really sure how to tell this story to make it funny. It is going to sound like I am a complete nut job, but I am going to tell it anyway. Mike and I must have laughed until we cried after it happened, but sometimes, I can just be really crazy.
Imagine you are getting ready for bed. Your entire house is a complete disaster because you didn't clean it before you went on vacation and when you got home, you basically just dropped everything on the floor, creating an even bigger mess. As you go to enter your bedroom, your bare toe kicks into the enormous suitcase full clothes in your path, causing a severe pain that makes you want to punch a baby. You start to cry and scream, but try not to cuss because you have given it up for lent. Instead, a big growl comes out of your mouth that, from what your husband tells you, sounds like a tyrannosaurus rex. Your toe hurts so badly, you don't know what to do.
Next, you decide to be mad at the suitcase, so you reach down and throw it has hard as you can. At this point, you go ahead and give in to the cursing... FFFUUUUU*****!! you scream, as you throw the suitcase across the room. Then you ramble on about how your house is never clean and you are sick and tired of living in a complete pig sty.
Now, you go into the bathroom, shut the door, and sit on the floor and cry while rubbing your sore toe. All the sudden, you realize your husband was watching this episode the entire time. Maybe he won't mention it. After getting some composure, you head back into the bedroom and get into bed.
About 10 minutes have passed, your husband is quietly playing on his iPhone and you think, Yeah, he is going to let this one slide. Until he says very calmly, "Well, I guess the gym membership is paying off... since you just tossed a 50 lb suitcase like it was nothing," and then proceeds to re-enact what you just did, laughing hysterically the whole time.
All I could do was laugh right with him. It was completely uncalled for and simply a bratty, selfish moment that for whatever reason, made me feel better at the time. I guess I can just be happy that he gets me, and takes all my craziness with a grain of salt. :)
