Well hello there! It has been a while.
Our ski vacation was absolutely glorious. It was relaxing, fun, and beautiful, all at the same time. It was just the right amount of time off, with just the right amount of skiing. It was maybe a little too much of drinking and eating poorly, since my body is certainly making me aware of that today. I think I have already drank 6 large cups of water today.
The first few days we were there, the weather was quite warm. There wasn't any snow on the ground, except at the slopes.
We spent Thursday and Friday skiing all day and evening, then coming back to the house to make dinner, chill in the hot tub, and hang out with friends.
One problem I realized while on this trip, is that there really isn't anything to do but ski and drink. Any activities that are available on the mountain revolve around drinking. Believe me, I love to drink, but each night by about 9 pm, I was done with it and ready for bed. I guess I am just getting old.
We did have a really great time. It was nice to see friends we hadn't seen in a while. We spent our evenings playing games, enjoying the fire, and enjoying each others company.
The weather was not the best on Friday, so we didn't really get to ski very much. The rain started coming down pretty hard by about 1 on Friday, so they closed the ski lifts down for a few hours. We went back out around 4:30 and skied for another few hours before finally calling it quits. We did not ski on Saturday and instead spent the day in the village shopping and hanging around for the afternoon.
As we packed up to leave on Sunday, the snow was really starting to come down. It would have been fun to ski in the snow and have that weather while we could enjoy it, but oh well. It was really pretty to see the mountain covered in a blanket of white.
I am feeling extremely exhausted today. I guess after 5 days of drinking, eating poorly, and not exercising, I should expect this feeling. I am so excited to get back into my normal routine of life and eating. Although, as soon as we got back, we got Chinese for dinner since we had no food that was easy at home. We do have a 5K this weekend that we are both running in, so I plan on getting in a good 3-4 mile run each day this week. Hopefully that will kick my system back in gear.
We will be back to our regularly scheduled postings tomorrow. Have a happy Monday!
